HCT Group provides missing prop for charity Christmas message
Our Ash Grove red bus team help the Children’s society set the wheels in motion for their missing children campaign.
HCT Group have teamed up with fellow social enterprise Mediorite to support The Children’s Society this Christmas. We provided an out-of-service double-decker bus for the filming of the charity’s hard-hitting campaign on young people going missing this festive season.
The story for the campaign takes place on a modern London night bus to highlight the high number of young people who’ll go missing from home or care, becoming homeless or vulnerably housed this Christmas.
Dai Powell, HCT Group Chief Executive, said “As a social enterprise, we were delighted to help out Mediorite by providing a bus for their campaign with The Children’s Society. It’s not normally possible to spare one of our vehicles for film-makers, but our team at Ash Grove depot in Hackney made a special effort. Social Enterprises in Hackney have a long tradition of working together when we can help to make a difference – and this is a great example of co-operation in action.”
Lucy Ferguson, Director of Mediorite, said “Mediorite first heard of HCT through Social Enterprise UK and when The Children’s Society briefed us they were the first port of call. We didn’t, however, expect such a warm reception to the request to borrow a bus and driver at such short notice and were even more surprised when HCT offered to support us and the project for free.”
The short film, called ‘Missing’ follows Gaby, a 15-year-old who has been going missing from home, leaving her vulnerable to a threatening older male. Should she meet Craig, who is getting more dangerous by the day, or make her appointment with The Children’s Society worker? Her story unfolds on the top deck of a night bus through text as we see Gaby struggle to make a decision.
The campaign will be launched as part of The Children’s Society Christmas appeal and can be seen on their website from 1st December: www.childrenssociety.org.uk/missingfromhome
