LibertyBus, our operation in Jersey, has won the Passenger Transport Best Practice Award and Jane Desmond, HCT Group’s Chief Operating Officer, has won the Diversity Champion Award for her leadership of our Drive On project.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Annual Awards honour excellence throughout the profession and celebrate talent, innovation and success across the nine sectors that the institute represents. The awards were held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Thursday night.

LibertyBus’ achievements in growing ridership, providing outstanding customer service and genuine community engagement were recognised with the Passenger Transport Best Practice Award, which is for outstanding achievement in the transport of passengers by road, rail, water or air.

The Diversity Champion award provides recognition for those who champion diversity and inclusion to drive business performance within the logistics and transport profession. Jane Desmond, our Chief Operating Officer, won for her leadership of our Drive On project. Drive On aims to create a path to sustainable employment for ex-offenders as London red bus drivers, helping to tackle re-offending. As Jane was unable to attend, the award was collected on her behalf by Tutu Adebiyi, Director of Skills & Employment, recognising the central contribution of the HCT Group Learning centre to the project.

An honourable mention also goes to Kemoy Scott, Operations Manager at our Bagley’s Lane depot, who was Highly Commended in the very competitive Rising Star category, which is for outstanding achievements by managers of less than 6 years managerial experience.

Welcoming the awards, Dai Powell, HCT Group Chief Executive, said “We’re delighted with the awards as they showcase the very best of what we do – an award for making a difference in our community reflects our social mission; an award for operational excellence shows what social enterprise can achieve commercially; and a Highly Commended for one of our young leaders shows we are set for the future. I’d like to congratulate all involved.”
